COMBAT CONTINUES

Round 6 (CTD.)

  • Vallen
    • Does the whole teleporting thing, and appears past Ralnor (missed 😔)
  • Kaya
    • “Does what her ancestors have been urging her to do for the longest time” (Corinthia’s words, not Izzie’s) and hits a “classic Katara pose” — it looks much looser, less rigid, and is her best attempt at going with the flow with the water
    • CHA SAVE: 9
      • The water begins to bubble, then it dies back down
      • It looks like she’s on the right track though!!
    • Kaya smirks, because she just figured that shit out!!
    • She flips one of the pillars to redirect the water — as she does, Ralnor stomps on the pillar itself and brings the ground up to meet it, keeping him above the water
    • FREE ACTION: double flips Ralnor off
  • SIDE NOTE: Lily sends Izzie boob pics :(
  • Quén
    • Changes into Ralnor’s sister as he’s distracted by Kaya’s attack, looking at him and going: “Ralnor, why are you doing this to me?”
    • RALNOR LEGENDARY ACTION
      • Vallen, Kaya, Cal, and Quén forced DEX saves
        • Quén reaction gives Kaya a +1d8 to her save
        • Kaya succeeds, taking 21 points of damage
        • Cal and Quén takes 42 points of damage
      • Ralnor explodes into a screaming rage, and everyone is hit with fire, force, and thunder damage simultaneously
        • He screams “I will save them”
        • As Quén takes damage, they call out: “You say you’ll save everyone, but you’re killing us! What’s the point, Ralnor?”
        • CAL DIES AND IMMEDIATELY COMES TO LIFE FOR 1 HP. HE LOOKS LIKE SHIT.
      • PERCEPTION
        • Cal is thrown off balance as he goes down, but everyone else notices: Ralnor’s eyes - which were previously gone - are glowing white
        • Kaya and Quén notice that Ralnor’s not fully there — him saying “I will save them” is not talking about saving us, but someone else
    • Uses their bonus action to slash across Ralnor’s chest with their Spiritual Weapon, dealing 18 points of radiant damage to him
  • Cordelia
    • Pulls The Empress, which forces a creature within 60 ft. to take an additional 1d4 force damage every time it takes damage
    • Fires on Ralnor with the Spellslinger, casting Firebolt at him — it whizzes past Ralnor, hitting the wall and just missing Vallen
      • Vallen leans to the side, hitting Cordelia with a 🤨
  • Cal
    • Runs towards the Orb, pulling off his Ring of Holding and switching it over from his right hand to his left
    • Grabs the Orb up using his prosthetic hand, attempting to pocket dimension it
      • Pink moss begins to grow over his metal hand
      • Cal cannot pocket dimension it
    • Uses Second Wind, healing for 7 HP (for a total of 8 HP)
    • He is still actively holding the Orb

Round 7

  • Ralnor
    • Steps off of the pillar he was standing on, seeing Kaya move the water a little and his sister standing behind her
      • Cal calls out “You’re gonna drown just like your sister did!”
      • As he says that, the ground and water begin to rumble
      • Cal feels his breath shorten and sweat bead on his brow as heat radiates out of Ralnor
    • Forces Kaya, Cal, and Quén to make DEX saves
      • Ralnor takes a pillar, throwing it behind him and hitting Cal
      • Cal takes 18 points of damage and goes down
        • Cal is STILL holding onto the Orb as he goes unconscious
      • Cal gets pushed back 10 feet as he goes prone
    • Forces Kaya to roll a STR save
      • Ralnor grabs Kaya by the collar, lifting into the air with one arm. He stares her down.
  • Vallen
    • Teleports directly behind Ralnor, stabbing him through the chest, twisting it, and tearing it out
      • Ralnor winces, and water gushes out of the wound
      • Cal says: “It’s canon, Vallen pulls out”
        • CJ SAYS VALLEN NEVER PULLS OUT??
        • CJ also says that vampires are sterile??
        • Lily says he won’t be when she’s done with him???
        • Grant if you see this, I’m so sorry :(
  • Kaya
    • With one arm, she attempts to use the water whip from ATLA
    • CHA save
      • ROLLS A NAT 20!!!!
      • GETS A HOW DO YOU WANNA DO THIS!!!!!!*
    • Kaya INSTEAD pulls on the water oozing out of Ralnor’s chest wound, accelerating its velocity and pulling it out of him
      • Ralnor’s body begins to deflate back into a skeleton
      • Kaya spits in his eye, and he slowly lowers Kaya to the ground as he loses strength
      • He only barely manages to hang onto Kaya’s collar, and as he feebly attempts to maintain his grip, Kaya gently pushes him and he falls to the ground
      • As Ralnor lays on the ground, he breathes heavily, saying: “World- Worldshaper… Mastered… Water. Tell me, whenever you kill someone… does it get easier?”
        • Kaya responds: “No, but my capacity to deal with it grows every time.”
        • Ralnor: “Good. Your heart still belongs with the living. You are worthy of the ‘Worldshaper’ title.”
      • Ralnor’s eyes flutter closed (with what little skin he has left on his face)
        • Ralnor: “Promise me… No. Do not promise them that you will save them all. Instead, promise them that they will never face the darkness alone. Perhaps, this time, the sea chose correctly.”
      • The seashell necklace - still cracked down the middle - becomes the only thing that remains of Ralnor as his body dissolves into seafoam.
        • Kaya goes to pick up the seashell necklace. As she touches it, the flashbacks of Ralnor’s life begins again, and the scenes cycle through until it stops at a scene of Ralnor’s life
        • It’s Ralnor and his sister on the beach once again, and as they talk she finds a very similar seashell
        • A few months later, she sees Ralnor’s sister gift him the seashell necklace using the shell she found
        • Ralnor’s life flashes before her eyes, and in each subsequent scene she sees Ralnor wearing the seashell necklace throughout battles and war
        • She sees him, the seashell necklace cracked, watching his sister drown.
        • She sees centuries of him sitting alone in a dark room, waiting for the next worldshaper
        • She sees him standing before him as he falls to the ground, seashell necklace on the ground

Combat Ends

  • Kaya turns to Quén, asking them if they can help her with the burial
    • They agree, but ask her to wait while they heal Cal
    • They grab Cal’s hand, touching it to their forehead and saying: “Get up, Cal. Your story isn’t over yet” as they cast Cure Wounds at 3rd level and heal him for 18 HP
  • Cal manages to will himself to let go of the Orb shard, but by now his arm is covered with pink moss and small branches
    • He burns it off using some matches, leaving his prosthetic arm covered in dead leaves and moss
  • Quén cannot put the shard of the Orb loose in their bag of holding, and cannot put it in the lead box holding any of the other shape shards lest something happen
    • Vallen offers to hold it while they do funeral rites
  • Kaya and Quén bury a small vial filled with Ralnor’s seafoam, and they each say a quick prayer
    • Kaya keeps Ralnor’s seashell necklace, tying it to her belt
  • Cal asks if Kaya can waterbend his piss (inconclusive)

Leaving the Trials

  • Kaya earthbends to move the boulder blocking our path out of our way so we can leave
  • As we pass through all the rooms, Kaya waterbends the curtain of water from room 2 out of our way
  • As we approach the entrance to room 1, Kaya places her hand on an indent (shaped like a hand) and pushes open the door
    • Water begins to pour through the hole in the ceiling, but as we enter we hear mechanical thudding and whirring as the water ceases

Meeting with Opal

  • As we exit the underground, we see Opal standing outside exactly where we left her
    • She tells us that she was told to evacuate, but she’s duty-bound to guard the temple
  • Opal tells us that we look a little worse for wear
  • Quén asks Opal if she has space to help us “clean up”, with specific reference to Kaya (they gesture to her as they say this)
    • She does! There’s a Japanese-style hot springs inside the temple 👀
    • Cal IMMEDIATELY strips and runs into the woods naked
  • Opal shows us where the hot springs are
  • Vallen asks Quén which bath they wanna go into
    • They’re like ??? and tells him that they went in the mens every time they went out with “Mimi” (Camille) so they’ll go into the mens
  • Kaya invites Opal to come with her 😉😳
    • OPAL AGREES!!!!
  • Kaya, Cordelia, and Opal go into the women’s bath
  • Vallen, Cal, and Quén go into the mens’ bath
    • The orb is placed next to the bath LMAO

Bathtime 🤩♨️

  • In the men’s
    • Vallen is reclined, arms spread out and leaning back. Homie is CHILLING
    • The Orb is floating next to Vallen, gently bobbing up and down
    • SIDE NOTE: Lily rolls a nat 20, so the DM canonically rips ass instead of her. Cordelia also smells like flowers.
    • Quén has a towel around their waist, busying themself trying to make more shade for Vallen
      • Vallen covers his eyes and angles his head up (trying to be polite) and tells them that he’s fine
      • VALLEN (UNDER HIS BREATH) GOES “SURPRISINGLY SMOOTH??” PERVERT!!!
      • They eventually acquiesce and slide into the water next to him
    • Cal pulls out a joint and begins to smoke it
      • Quén - before climbing down - throws down their free joint that they got early in Act 1 down to Cal
      • CAL CATCHES IT IN HIS MOUTH!!!!!!
  • In the women’s
    • Kaya pulls out a bottle of alcohols as she regales Opal with tales of our adventures in the water trials
    • Kaya asks what Opal’s plans are after this
      • Opal says that she might travel around now, since the water trials are essentially destroyed now
      • KAYA INVITES HER ALONG!!! PLEASE SAY YES PLEASE PLASE POEASE PLEASE PEASE PLEASE PLEASEPLESAE
    • Opal asks where our next destination is
      • Kaya replies Umbravael
      • Opal: “Umbravael… The land of dark elves and orcs?”
      • Opal asks why we’re going there — Kaya responds by saying that we’re dealing with the horrors, but doing so allows us to travel the world
        • OPAL SAYS SHE’S IN!!!!!!
    • Cordelia spends her time trying to find a crack in the wall
      • SIDE NOTE: Vallen is well-endowed (size of 16 oz redbull can)
  • BACK TO THE MEN’S SIDE

Post-Bath

  • Cordelia thought that the folks in the guys’ section were having say gex
    • When confronted with this, Quén is like “why 🤨”
  • KAYA TELLS US THAT WE HAVE A NEW FRIEND
    • WE ALL WINGMAN KAYA SO THAT OPAL SIMPLY MUST SLEEP IN HER BED!!! LOVE WINS!! HAPPY PRIDE!
  • Quén messages Ozwin, letting him know that we’re headed back and have a new companion with us
    • Ozwin messages back, confirming that he received this and offers us drinks
    • After asking, Quén tells the group that Ozwin’s been so locked in on his studies that he hasn’t responded to their messages
  • TL;DR:
    • Opal gets her bags, and Kaya gets Kade to clean up her room so there’s no “fuck shit” lying around
    • Ozwin gets drinks ready for us
    • Theodas is informed that the Orb shard has been obtained
    • Foo is asked if he has 5 other lead-lined boxes — his response is tentatively affirmative
    • Vallen continues to hold onto the Orb shard

Returning to the Ship

  • The guards let us out of the woods, and we go to pick up our car!
    • Cal gets the car keys, and drives us to the dock!
  • Opal is CONFUSED why everyone’s being so nice to us
    • We try to vaguely explain the concept of the shapes of paracausality, but she says that she needs a drink in her first before we do anything like that
  • We board our ship!!
    • Apparently there’s another festival scheduled for tonight
    • Everyone on deck is enjoying free mead and beer from the celebrating people on the dock

The gang chills and parties!!

  • As we sit down, Quén calls for Foo
    • They ask if he’s prepared the 5 lead boxes, and he responds affirmatively — they’re already in Quén’s room
  • KAYA MAKES AN ANNOUNCEMENT!!!
    • She tells everyone that we passed the water trials and defeated a dangerous man. Everyone cheers!!
    • While this happens, Cal passes out “Team Kaya” shirts and hats. Opal wears one!!
  • We shoot the shit and chill
    • Kaya can’t freeze water — that requires the air trials
  • After drinking for some time:
    • Vallen tells the gang he’s going to retire for the night
      • Quén also says they’re going to retire, being a full drink in and more than a little tipsy
      • Kaya and Cordelia urge them to drink some water and put the Orb shard up before hitting the hay
    • Ozwin hands the crystal back to Kaya, telling her that he’s done with his research
      • He looks VERY tired
      • Homie goes to hit the hay
  • Kaya invites Opal to “get acquainted” their quarters
    • OPAL TAKES A SHOT AND SAYS ABSOLUTELY. KAYA ALSO TAKES A SHOT AND GOES OFF WITH HER!!!
    • Cal has - apparently - GRABBED A BAND FROM THE SHORE AND REQUESTED THAT THEY PLAY SOMETHING
      • THEY PLAY PONY BY GENUINE!!!!
      • Kaya opens her window and intimidates the band into quieting down — the band stops, and almost continue playing again until Kaya tells them that she’ll pay them more than Cal paid them in order to shut up (Cal paid 25 GP, so Kaya gives them 30 GP)
      • CAL AND KAYA GET INTO A BIDDING WAR TO CONVINCE THE BAND TO EITHER CONTINUE OR STOP PLAYING
      • KAYA GIVES THEM 50 GP AND TELLS THEM TO GET OUT. IT WORKS!!!
  • Cordelia - who had been reading a book this whole time - wraps it up and gets herself to bed 🛌😴😴😴
