FACING OFF AGAINST OSIRIS

Initiative

Combat

ROUND 1

  • Vallen
    • His form seems to shiver, and he disappears from our sight (teleported?)
  • Cal
    • Casts Expeditious Retreat and bonus action sprints up to OSIRIS
    • Uses both attacks on OSIRIS (25 and 28), both hit
  • OSIRIS
    • Attacks for 29, just punches Cal STRAIGHT in the chest
    • Deals 13 damage, pushes him 10 ft. back (Cal succeeds on his CON save for Expeditious Retreat)
      • REACTION: Cal casts Hellish Rebuke on OSIRIS, dealing 8 damage (OSIRIS succeeded on the DEX save)
  • Kaya
    • Runs up to OSIRIS with 45 ft. of movement, attacks twice (17 and nat 1). The 17 hits for 6 damage
    • When she hits, Kaya:
      • Fires off 2 charges in OSIRIS’s face. He doesn’t move, and just stares right at her
      • Also gets a charge for her lifestealing gauntlets
    • Kaya uses a bonus action to attack twice more with Flurry of Blows
    • For one of the missed attacks, Kaya looks behind OSIRIS and sees a crater in the wall, directly in line with where her fist stopped
    • Kaya runs 10 ft. away, not needing to disengage because of the Mobile feat
  • Julian
    • Uses his full movement to get closer to OSIRS
    • Casts Sanctuary on Kaya
  • Quén
    • Casts Haste on Cal
      • This feels a little different from all the other times — usually their magic feels like a refreshing breeze or like stepping out the door for an adventure, but this time it feels like a wave washes over him as his mind stills and everything slows around him
    • Uses a bonus action to pull out their Mace of Windstrike
    • Moves up 15 ft. to be in front of Cordelia
  • Cordelia
    • Steps aside so she has a clear line of sight to OSIRIS, and casts Firebolt, dealing 17 fire damage
      • Hits OSIRIS right in the chest, directly below where the Pyramid sits
    • Cordelia’s cards float out of her deck, circling her until one singles itself out from the pack: The Star
      • A beam of light flashes by Cal, as a 50 ft. ray of radiant light SHOOTS UP FROM THE GROUND AND HITS OSIRIS FOR (1d8 TIMES CORDELIA’S LEVEL — NOT TECHNICALLY HOW IT SHOULD BE BUT IT’S COOL) 49 POINTS OF DAMAGE

ROUND 2

  • Vallen
    • FALLS FROM THE SKY AND LANDS ON OSIRIS, SWORD DOWN, STABBING THE FUCK OUT OF HIM
    • Deals 41 points of damage as the sword sticks directly in OSIRIS’s collarbone, DOWN TO THE HILT!!!
      • HE’S USING THE SWORD THAT CAL GAVE HIM 🥺
      • OSIRIS TAKES A KNEE!!!
  • Cal
    • Uses a bonus action to use Shadow Walker to teleport away and a BUNCH of movement to book it to the corner of the room
    • HE USES BOTH HIS ACTIONS TO SHOOT HIS FUCKING GUN!!!
      • 2d8 + 5 per shot!!
      • Deals 22 damage on the first shot, and 15 damage on the second shot
    • One bullet strikes into the same shoulder Vallen struck, and the other HITS THE PYRAMID
  • OSIRIS
    • Grabs the sword sticking out through his arm, rips out, and SHATTERS IT WITH ONE HAND (again) — all without breaking eye contact with Cal
    • Behind him, Vallen begins to rise as OSIRIS casts Telekinesis and THROWS HIM INTO JULIAN
      • BOTH VALLEN AND JULIAN GO PRONE AND EACH TAKE 7 DAMAGE
      • Julian loses concentration on Sanctuary
    • He holds his hand up, aiming it at Cordelia
      • Cordelia casts Shield, but it doesn’t work as 3 missiles hit her for 21 damage
    • OSIRIS looks angry.
  • Kaya
    • Attacks twice (9 and 16), but neither hits
    • Spends a Ki point to activate Flurry of Blows as a bonus action, and both miss
    • As Kaya moves to punch OSIRIS, he TELEPORTS in front of her, grabs her, and TELEPORTS HER DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF CORDELIA (WITH HIMSELF)
  • Julian
    • Uses half of his movement to get up
    • Attacks the same shoulder that Vallen hit with his battleaxe
      • Radiant light begins to
      • He deals 28 points of damage!!
  • Quén
    • Uses their Channel Divinity to move Cordelia through the air and behind Julian/Vallen
    • Casts Spiritual Weapon to summon a glowing longsword, sending it spinning through the air into Vallen’s hand (it will deal 1d8+5 damage, plus whatever Vallen adds)
  • Cordelia
    • Casts Firebolt, dealing 5 damage
    • The cards are still floating around her in the air, and as a bonus action she pulls one of them out: The Heirophant
      • She picks an item within 60 feet of her (a rock near OSIRIS/Cal) that weighs less than 20 pounds
      • The rock turns into an egg LMAO. IT’S A 19-POUND RAW OSTRICH EGG

ROUND 3

  • Vallen
    • Uses half his movement to get up from prone, and goes “Is that a fucking egg?”
    • Runs over and attacks OSIRIS twice, dealing 28 damage total
  • Cal
    • Uses his bonus action and the Shadow Walker spell to teleport to the opposite corner of the room and shoots OSIRIS again (both miss)
  • OSIRIS
    • OSIRIS looks angry. Although he doesn’t need to breathe, he STARTS MANUALLY BREATHING as he TURNS TO QUÉN
      • “Quén, you’re bothering me.”
      • HE SWEEPS HIS ARM ACROSS THEM, A PURPLE LIGHT EMANATING FROM IT AS HE CASTS BANISHMENT ON THEM
      • Quén finds themself in a familiar ruined chapel, wooden pews around them. This time, unlike all the other times, they are alone.
    • As a sign of his concentration on Banishment, one of his eyes - which was previously glowing red - now glows purple
  • Kaya
    • Makes two attacks, hits with one (19 to hit) and pops two charges on her knuckles, and deals 20 total damage
      • OSIRIS succeeds on his concentration check
    • Attacks twice more, hitting with one and dealing 5 damage
      • OSIRIS succeeds on his concentration check
  • Julian
    • Swings his greataxe at OSIRIS, dealing 18 damage
  • Quén
    • They stumble up to the altar, falling to their knees, clasping their hands together and praying to Avandra and Camille, begging them to protect their friends
  • Cordelia
    • Uses an action to drink a Potion of Greater Healing, healing for 16 HP
    • A card floats in front of her without her prompting
      • Takes 8d8 points of damage
      • OSIRIS is engulfed in flames for the next hour

ROUND 4

  • Vallen
    • Teleports behind OSIRIS, using his sneak attack to attack him
  • Cal
    • Uses his movement and a bonus action to dash 120 feet STRAIGHT at OSIRIS (60 ft. to reach him + an extra 60 ft.)
      • This triggers CJ’s Momentum mechanics: for every 15 feet of movement, a creature may deal 1d4 damage (this only applies to Hasted creatures or creatures whose movement is otherwise enhanced). Additionally, for every 15 feet of movement, the attacking creature’s AC decreases by 1.
    • Uses his Hasted action, action, and Second Wind to attack OSIRIS for 23 damage
      • Cal’s sword now sticks through OSIRIS, sticking out his back
    • OSIRIS fails his concentration check, releasing Quén from their imprisonment
      • They are at the same place that they were in Avandra’s ruined temple: at the altar
  • OSIRIS
    • Takes 2d4 fire damage (8 damage) for being on fire
    • “That. Is. ENOUGH.
      • Uses a hand to cut Cal’s sword in half, and deals 15 points of damage to him
    • OSIRIS raises his left arm again, turning towards Cal.
      • The spear he dropped earlier - the one that was sitting at his throne - FLIES INTO HIS HAND
      • The spear is a single piece of metal (made of the same metal OSIRIS is made of: Mithril) that is pointed at both ends like a javelin
    • OSIRIS FLIPS THE SPEAR AROUND AND MOVES TO STAB CAL
      • HE CRITS :(
      • CAL TAKES 64 POINTS OF DAMAGE AS THE SPEAR PUSHES THROUGH HIS BODY, RAISING HIM UP AS HE BEGINS TO DIE.
      • “Who’s next?”
    • NEVERMIND CAL’S NOT DYING :D
      • THE TATTOO ON HIS HAND BEGINS TO GLOW
      • HE IS NOW AT 1 HP :(
  • Kaya
    • Casts Maximilian’s Earthen Grasp, forcing OSIRIS to make a STR save (DC 14; he barely passes with a 15). She deals 4 damage.
    • Uses a Ki point to use Flurry of Blows and attack OSIRIS twice more
      • One is a 2, the other is a NAT 20
  • Julian
    • Swings his greataxe at OSIRIS, who catches it, absorbs the fiery smite, and fires it back at him, dealing damage and pushing Julian back 10 feet
  • Quén
    • Lunges forward - still kneeling - and teleports over to Cal
    • They cast a 2nd level Cure Wounds on Cal, healing him for 11 points
  • Cordelia
    • Uses an action to cast Firebolt, then a bonus action to pull another card The Tower
      • A glowing skin engulfs her, rendering her immune to nonmagical slashing damage for 1 minute

ROUND 5

  • Vallen
    • Vallen turns to Cal, grabbing him by the shoulder and teleporting the both of them away — leaving the spear through Cal’s chest behind
    • They are both now in the far corner of the room, behind the altar
  • Cal
    • Spends a Grit die to use Deadshot, firing with advantage
      • HE GETS A NAT 20!!!
      • HE DEALS 44 TOTAL DAMAGE!!!*
      • CJ CHANGES THE MUSIC
    • OSIRIS begins to turn to Cal as he shots, and the bullet hits him directly in the Pyramid
      • The Pyramid itself cracks a little upon impact
      • Lasers - the same ones which cut into the ground and threw OSIRIS into the Underdark in the first place - begin shooting out
      • OSIRIS throws a hand over the Pyramid
    • Loki BURSTS THROUGH THE WINDOW, ROLLING AND FACING OSIRIS
      • WITHOUT TURNING TO LOOK AT US, SHE SAYS “Seekers. You must get out of here. I will explain later.”
        • Insight (25): Quén sees complete and utter fear on Loki’s face
      • SHE BEGINS FIGHTING OSIRIS
    • “Tell your The Father to prepare for unforeseen consequences”
    • The wall behind the altar crumbles, revealing a stone door
    • In response, Quén delays their action to the end of the initiative order to make sure everyone gets through safely
  • The Seekers
    • EVERYONE BOOKS IT TO THE STONE DOOR
    • VALLEN HAD TO DRAG CAL THROUGH THE DOOR

We Escape

  • We are dead silent as we walk through the interdimensional corridor
  • Vallen and Cordelia ask where Quén went during their banishment — they were in the chapel where they always meet with their goddess, but she wasn’t there
    • Cordelia theorizes that they prayed to Lathander, which is why The Sun card was pulled. They didn’t though: they prayed to Avandra and Camille
    • Julian: Lathander is quiet. He was not there. That Sun was you
  • Quén messages V to let him know that we’re back and have news for him. He instructs us to meet him upstairs immediately
  • Cordelia and Kaya realize that - never in their lives has the weather in the Capital been gloomy before, due to the protective magic around its walls - but right now, the sky is overcast
  • Pushing our way towards the elevator, we notice that people are rushing around, in and out of Purah’s office (etc.etc.)
    • In the elevator, we briefly talk about how we weren’t prepared and how we essentially failed
    • Cordelia shares that she believes something is terribly wrong, but she doesn’t know what it is
  • Ozwin and V are discussing things in the Keeper’s office, and turn around to greet us

Meeting with The Keeper

  • V requests that we tell him everything that happened
    • Cordelia says that we probably need a recap from him as much as he needs one from us, but explains EVERYTHING that happened (excluding that we met/communicated with FAFO prior to the battle)
    • Cal tells V all about the egg on the battlefield
  • The Keeper informs us that all magic has been redirected to the outer walls, and that we only have 3 days left
    • The Keeper has killed Sulk, who revealed that The Father has a master plan known as the prophecy
    • Part of the prophecy is that OSIRIS will summon an army and attack the Clover Capital in 3 days’ time
      • There is more of the prophecy that has to do with us — V knows of this part already
  • V tells us that we can ask for whatever we need - regardless of price - but he will need us on the front lines
    • Quen requests that Cal, Vallen, and Julian get Mithril armor
  • Cordelia asks about the integrity of the inner city
    • The lower levels - the sewer systems - have been fully blocked off - caved in by the Earth Faction - since they are infested with Warforged
  • V asks us if we know where the title of “Keeper” comes from
    • The Orb has been in Clover’s possession at a few points in history (the Pyramid as well, but with less frequency)
    • The Keeper’s ultimate task - other than governance - is to keep The Shapes
      • Keepers are chosen through rite and trial, and are granted the ability to handle
    • V BELIEVES THE FATHER IS A KEEPER
      • “Keeper” might not be the term that the Father uses, and V doesn’t know how the Father might be a Keeper
      • V can utilize the Orb’s power himself, and can handle it without harm
      • “To use the Orb is to push a big red button on biological life exploding. To use the Pyramid is the exact opposite”
  • V theorizes that the Father is trying to “trick fate”, and use True Changelings to create “Seekers” of his own that take on our identities
  • V has mobilized all factions
  • We have 3 days total. V warns us to speak with our families beforehand
  • Cal spins around, getting in Vallen’s face
    • Cal berates Vallen for pulling him out of the battle, saying that we could have won that and prevented all this from happening
    • Quén bristles, and both they and Vallen point out that OSIRIS nearly killed Cal. Before more can be said, Cal turns and leaves

Traveling to Hillford

  • V says that he has a door that leads directly to Foo Bar, taking us there
    • It is the stone door directly across form Ozwin’s second office
    • There’s a wooden sign hanging on it, saying “To Foo’s”
  • Quén grabs Vallen’s hand, squeezing it tight. Vallen squeezes back.
  • Cordelia attempts to separate from the party, saying that she needs to see her brother
    • V counsels against this, asking her to give him a day. Lawrence was mobilized along with the other factions
  • We pass through the door and enter Foo’s Bar

NEXT SESSION WILL BE THE LAST SESSION OF ACT 1

  • THERE WAS A REASON WHY KAYA WASN’T TARGETED BY OSIRIS

WE LEVEL UP TO LEVEL 8!!!
